Reports to Senior Research Engineer
Job purpose
To provide technical support and engineering expertise to in-process research and development and operational support to Eastern Composite Services technical services.
Duties and responsibilities
The job duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting laboratory experiments and pilot plant process test work
- Collecting and analyzing experimental and process operations data
- Writing research and process engineering reports
- Preparing process design documents
- Performing hazard analyses and risk assessments
- Technical troubleshooting and process improvements for plant operations
- Planning and performing test work in a metallurgical laboratory
- Preparing and reviewing the technical content of operational manuals and procedures
- Assisting technicians in the performance of plant operations
- Improving process capability and throughput while improving quality standards
Employees who hold this position are responsible for:
- Providing technical leadership to shop and field application technicians
- Ensuring a safe working environment for themselves and others by working according to safety guidelines and taking preventative action if a potential hazard is identified
- Ensuring delivery of all outputs complies with the company's safety and quality standards.
- Contributing positively to company reputation and the morale of other employees
- Ensuring company policies and procedures are followed
Qualifications
- University degree in Chemical or Process Engineering
- Minimum Four years of engineering experience
- Experience in designing and conducting experiments
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and simultaneous projects
- Excellent organizational & strategic planning skills
- Proficient in MS Office and other related computer applications
- Strong mechanical aptitude
Working conditions
Travel or overtime may be required.
Physical requirements
It could require lifting, repetitive movements, physical activity, or a long period of sitting or standing.
