Job Description

Primary role purpose:
This is a temporary, maternity leave replacement position. The primary purpose of the role will be to effectively lead a team of 5 to 10 retail recurring billing team members to deliver operational and performance excellence, optimizing resources to ensure all keys targets and objectives are met, ensuring ‘right first time' processes are adopted; deliver accurate, complete & timely billing services; provide analytical and qualitative review of billing data; and ongoing personal and team development.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all billing activities are completed accurately and on time
  • Lead the monthly billing cycle, including analytic reviews and the interface of data to the financial system
  • Oversee day-to-day activities of team members and monitor work assignments to ensure all resources are fully utilized
  • Proactively recommend continuous improvements to maximize efficiency and accuracy of existing systems and processes
  • Liaise with internal teams for changes to billing service
  • Analyze large volumes of data to generate valuable insights, prepare comprehensive reporting, reconciliations, quality assurance checks, audits, and trend analysis
  • Act as a primary escalation point for operational issues in the team
  • Preparation of management reports in conjunction with the Senior Manager, Billing Services
  • Coordinate with IT on system issues and work with the Senior Manager, Billing Services to establish priorities
  • Train and coach team members to support their personal development and departmental KPIs
  • Review departmental procedure documentation to ensure it is accurate and meets all standards
  • Personal development / participate in development training to meet personal potential
  • Work on ad-hoc projects as needed

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Month-end billing activities completed within target
  • Completion of other billing activities (Pulse task completion, SNOW task and case resolution etc.) within established targets
  • Total billing accuracy as measured by ratio of billing errors : invoices issued
  • Team billing accuracy based on number of errors per month made by the Billing Services team

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in handling Billing processes, Billing systems and tools for standard billing activities in Telecommunication domain
  • Experience in leading small teams and managing people
  • Ability to deal with complex billing issues and prioritize competing demands
  • Effective time management - ability to set priorities to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Ability to manage stressful situations, particularly during month end activities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner
  • Effective task delegation and follow-up
  • Ability to train and coach staff
